Matcha Chai Latte

Ingredients

For one serving

  • 1/4 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/4 tsp ground cardamom
  • 1/4 tsb ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground clove
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg 
  • 1/4 tsb turmeric
  • Optional fresh ginger 1cm
  • 2 g matcha powder
  • 30 ml hot (not boiling) water
  • 200 ml of your favorite (plantbased) milk
  • Maple syrup or brown sugar

Method

  1. Warm the spices
    Place all the spices, plus the optional fresh ginger, into a small saucepan. Gently heat over low heat until fragrant.

  2. Add sweetness and milk
    Stir in your sweetener of choice (maple syrup or brown sugar) and a splash of milk.

  • For an iced version: only add about a quarter of the milk, then remove from the heat.

  • For a hot version: pour in the full amount of milk and continue to warm through.

  1. Prepare the matcha

  • Whisk 2 g matcha with 30 ml hot (not boiling) water until smooth and frothy.

  1. Assemble your latte

  • Iced latte: strain the spiced milk into a glass, top up with the remaining cold milk and ice, then pour in your matcha.

  • Hot latte: follow the same process, but serve directly without ice.
